Session 101 — Basic Computer and Internet Skills

First Class

Welcome to T3 — Technology, Tools, and Training. You belong here whether you feel brand new to technology or you already know a little. We move slowly on purpose. Bring your questions — even the ones that feel “too basic.” There are no silly questions in this life group. We're going to learn together, practice together, and have a good time. You do not need to know everything before you arrive. That is why we are here.

About this session

Build confidence using a computer and the internet through practical, beginner-level skills you can use right away. We focus mainly on Windows, with brief Mac comparisons where things look different.

What you'll practice

  • Computer parts and basic settings (Wi-Fi, sound, brightness, text size)
  • Opening, closing, and switching between programs
  • Files and folders: create, save, find, rename, organize
  • Using a browser, tabs, search, and spotting ads
  • Online safety basics (suspicious links, fake pop-ups, stronger passwords)
  • Simple troubleshooting: “It's usually fixable”
